After reading the other reviews, I was baffled. This product has worked great for me. I usually use soy milk or 2% milk and heat it first. You do need to adjust the whipper to the amount of liquid in the decanter - read the directions. Also, if you break the decanter you can go to the Bodum site and get a replacement. I've had mine for some time and am still really pleased with it.

I purchased this item with some trepidation after reading the mixed reviews here. However, after figuring out my trick, which isn't in the manual, I've been nothing but satisfied. Here it is: as you depress the froth button tilt the glass beaker from 90 degrees upright to up to 45 degrees. The more you tilt and the longer you operate, the more foam/froth you will get. I tend to tilt mine about 60 degrees for 10-15 seconds to get a good latte and and 45 degrees for up to 30 seconds for a good foamy cappuccino. I always keep the whisk at the max milk setting and usually fill to 3/4 to full on the "Max Milk" line.

Like the first 3 reviewers i was annoyed when my milk hardly frothed ( i was used to the handheld aerolatte)and sulked for 2 weeks! I finally took the manual out to read again and realised that i needed to adjust the spring mesh to the amount of milk i had in the beaker.i.e: if i poured milk up to the max. line of the beaker, i needed to move the curved part (middle) of the mesh up, so that it sits on the surface of milk. like wise if i put less milk, lower the curve of the mesh. it is important that the mesh sits on the surface of the milk.
