I ordered this surge protector mainly because the description on Amazon's site (at least at the time) said that it has two "always on" outlets, and the others can be turned off at the switch. I really like the layout of the outlets and the space it has for so many plugs, and I like that it has a light that shows you if something's wrong with the wall outlet you're plugging it into, but it does NOT have the always on outlets. I will keep the surge protector because it's a good one, but will be looking for another one that does what I hoped this one would.

I don't own this specific APC product, but I do own other APC products.

My home was hit by lightning on July 2, 2004 during a severe lightning storm. Both of my garage door openers were destroyed during the strike and they were on separate NET3 power line surge protectors made by APC.

NET3 surge protectors offer the best ($50,000) damaged equipment warranty that APC offers. APC refuses to pay for replacement garage door openers since in their determination, the surge protectors are functioning properly (I had to send the surge protectors at my expense for analysis at their labs).

I will never contend that a surge protector can protect any device from a direct lightning strike, but the APC warranty contends that they will replace your equipment in the event this unfortunate event occurs.

I now do not recommend APC equipment, since their warranty is worthless.

The TRUE test of a product is whether or not the company will stand behind the product when a problem occurs, and APC has totally failed in this matter.

These guys have some great customer service. They answered emails right away. Though my package was very carefully packed with TONS of bubble wrap, the glass was still cracked. They replaced it immediately. The shipping is very reasonable, particularly if you buy several frames. And the quality of the frame is about what you would expect for a $15 frame that you could get also from Target or Michaels. The difference for me, however, is that it is almost impossible to find 10 x 13 frames anywhere -- so this was a perfect solution for me. I am very happy with the look of this silver floral frame. The main criticism I have is that the wall hanging hardware came separately, and it was nearly impossible to screw the brackets into the frame and the wire was far too thick to twist around the brackets easily. I ended up going to Home Depot or Sears Hardware and buying a $1.99 wall hanging kit and hammered in some mounting brackets on my own. Would have been nice if the frame came completed, but the little extra effort was worth the money I saved on buying custom 10 x 13 frames.

I used this coffee urn for the first time on Christmas Eve. I used a perk-ground coffee. Coffee was good and it was nice and hot. My only complaint has to do with the spout - it drips quite a bit - had to keep a couple of napkins under the spout - thought about sending it back, but then decided it was too much bother. Other than that, it's good!

After reading the other reviews, I was baffled. This product has worked great for me. I usually use soy milk or 2% milk and heat it first. You do need to adjust the whipper to the amount of liquid in the decanter - read the directions. Also, if you break the decanter you can go to the Bodum site and get a replacement. I've had mine for some time and am still really pleased with it.

I purchased this item with some trepidation after reading the mixed reviews here. However, after figuring out my trick, which isn't in the manual, I've been nothing but satisfied. Here it is: as you depress the froth button tilt the glass beaker from 90 degrees upright to up to 45 degrees. The more you tilt and the longer you operate, the more foam/froth you will get. I tend to tilt mine about 60 degrees for 10-15 seconds to get a good latte and and 45 degrees for up to 30 seconds for a good foamy cappuccino. I always keep the whisk at the max milk setting and usually fill to 3/4 to full on the "Max Milk" line.

Like the first 3 reviewers i was annoyed when my milk hardly frothed ( i was used to the handheld aerolatte)and sulked for 2 weeks! I finally took the manual out to read again and realised that i needed to adjust the spring mesh to the amount of milk i had in the beaker.i.e: if i poured milk up to the max. line of the beaker, i needed to move the curved part (middle) of the mesh up, so that it sits on the surface of milk. like wise if i put less milk, lower the curve of the mesh. it is important that the mesh sits on the surface of the milk. The knives have a reputation that preceeds them. So, no comment is necessary for that.

I wanted to point out that one should never use any method but "Super Saver" unless the item absolutely, positively must be there the next day. I ordered five Global knives very late on the evening of the 15th and they will be arriving on the 17th. That's essentially "Next Day".

When you think about it, Amazon and UPS (et al.) gain nothing by delaying your order. Once you have ordered and paid, the inventory becomes a liability to them. It's much wiser and economical for them to get rid of it (ship it to you) ASAP to make room for other stock. They aren't going to say "Gee, this guy _wants_ it in 5-7 days, we can't ship it yet!!!"

Got this after seeing Anthony Bourdain's recommendation that professional chefs use it in Kitchen Confidential.

This is the sharpest knife I own and I was a little afraid of it after being sloppy and cutting myself with it. Was a great incentive to improve my knife skills. If I was buying a chef's knife again, I would get the 8 inch. 10 inches is a little formidable for an amateur cook.

But either size is the best knife you can get for the money.

I'm sure this is a great book, but I could read neither the mouseprint text nor see much of the cartoons. The unwieldy size made a manifier hard to use so I gave up and dumped it at the library.

It aims to be comprehensive, and it is, and it includes some wondeful text by people who have spent their lives in the field.

Buy it for your coffee table, but read it before you put it there.

What a disappointment ! ! ! With all the books published over the past fifty years on comic art in general, one would would expect more useful reference material to exist on the subject. Other than the publications of Brian Walker, Bill Blackbeard, Richard Marchall, and precious few others, most authors and editors, including those who produced this volume, fail to understand that not all art that is described by the terms comic and cartoon appeals to the same audience and that these various art forms are not all appropriately discussed in the same book. As an inevitable result we get books which do not fulfill the expectations of those interested in any of the loosely related fields.

Comic strip art and comic book art are closely related -- the initial and constant appeal of both lie in the existence of continuing characters who develope over time, thereby becoming small parts of the lives of the readers. Animation art can be similarly ingrained into the viewer's psyche, as the films that are the ultimate product of such art are viewed and reviewed over the course of many years. But it is hard to do justice to both comic stiip/book art and animation art in the same book, given the very different manners by which the two forms of art are produced. Political cartoons are even less compatible with discussions of comic strip/book art, since they serve a very different purpose and are intended for a markedly different audience. Very few comic strip or comic book fans have more than a passing interest in political cartoons.

Few readers seeing the title "Cartoon America" would expect a volume wherein at least half the text and illustrations deal with political cartoons. Aside from the reproduction of some important comic strip originals, this book will probably fall short of almost everyone's expectations. The animation and comic book chapters are particularly weak, not because of the commentary but because the examples of such art in the Library of Congress (specifically the Art Wood collection) are not at all distinguished. Even the chapters devoted to comic strip art are somewhat disappointing. It is becoming increasingly apparent that the vaunted Wood Collection was neither as broad nor as deep as most people assumed and that a large number of the thousands of items in that collection consisted of political cartoons, not comic art. Perhaps the collection would have appeared more impressive if it had been presented through serparate books on the various subjects. It is too bad that we have been given just another in a long line of books that fail to do justice to any of the art forms because they are lumped together in what is an inherently inapropriate mix.

Love this keeper! We camp a lot and have always struggled with packing lighter items in the bed of the truck. This solves the problem, and eliminates the worry of something getting bounced out of the bed.

Pretty cool product, but can't really call it 'adjustable'. I could not see how it should adjust.
Also, we came across country with it and it snapped the ends off in two places. We did have a large odd load but I would have hoped it could have been stronger for the price.
